Sterling Silver and Rainbow Moonstone 'Wolf Moon' Drop Earrings

These beautiful little moonstone earrings are based on one of my most popular designs, The Wolf Moon, which I originally created in late January 2021 when the night sky above the Forest of Dean was illuminated by one of the most beautiful moons I’ve ever seen. I so desperately wanted to create a piece of jewellery that captured the beautiful silver glow of that Wolf Moon, and of all the designs I came up with over the next few days, this earring style was by far my favourite.
 
These little chaps have been adapted from that original design and now include a brass star on the back of one earring and a brass crescent moon of the back on the other. They also contain two beautiful. 5mm round, Rainbow Moonstones, the perfect homage to that awesome mid-winter moon. 
 
These are a one-of-a-kind item. The earrings that are pictured in this listing are the exact pair that you will receive.

  • Item Details

    The body of the earrings are made from 0.8mm thick, recycled sterling silver sheet that has been hand forged into little domes measuring approximately 1.2cm across.

    The front, or concave side of each moon contains a 5mm round Rainbow Moonstone in a fine silver bezel setting, the metal around the stone has been lightly textured with a ball pein hammer and then polished to a high shine using wire brushes, giving the appearance of a beautiful silver halo around the stones that resembles the surface of that beautiful Wolf Moon.

    The back, or convex side of the moons have been polished to a mirror shine, with one earring containing a hand-sawn brass star measuring approx. 0.7cm across, and the other a hand-sawn brass moon measuring approx. 0.7cm long and 0.5mm across at its widest point

    The ear wires have been handmade from 0.8mm round, recycled sterling silver wire and are approximately 2cm long.

    The total drop of these earrings from the curve at the top of the ear-wire to the base of the moon is approx. 3cm.

    These earrings are lightweight and super comfortable to wear, weighing in at approx. 1.4g per earring.

    For insurance purposes all items are shipped via Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed within the UK, and Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed to the rest of the world.

    I do not currently dispatch as standard to EU countries due to the customs and paperwork/hallmarking complications created by Brexit. However, if you do live in the EU and would like to purchase from me, please get in touch so we can check your countries hallmarking regulations and customs requirements to see if it is possible.

  • Caring For Your Jewellery

    Sterling silver can easily tarnish over time, especially handmade and artisan items that are typically not plated or lacquered in the way that most commercial jewellery is.

    To keep your jewellery looking great for years to come remember to remove it before exercising, swimming, bathing, showering or when completing tasks where it could get knocked or damaged.

    Do not allow your jewellery to come into contact with harsh chemicals, hand sanitisers, perfumes and lotions (It’s always best to put your jewellery on last while getting dressed). And store your item in the jewellery bag provided when it is not being worn.
